The best meats to smoke over the holidays

Actually, we’d say that whatever you happen to be smoking is the best meat to smoke over the holidays—but we all have our favorites. And these are a few of ours, complete with links to recipes from the good folks at How to BBQ Right!

 Barbecue Chicken

This time of year, “The Bird” usually refers to the turkey. But chicken is always amazing off the smoker, and when you add a little barbecue sauce, it becomes pure comfort food that is perfect for the holidays.

 Prime Rib

Ooh, our mouths are watering already. Prime rib is a holiday classic, and when you’ve had it smoked, you just might never go back to roasting. This takes a bit of time, but boy is it worth it.

 Double-Smoked Ham

Most, if not all, of the hams you find at the store are going to be smoked already. But you should smoke it again! Basically, you’re just heating it up (since it’s pre-cooked) and adding your own additional smoke—because if you want something done right, do it yourself.

You’ll find plenty of other great ideas and recipes at How to BBQ Right. Pick one or two and have yourself an amazing season! (And stay tuned for another post next week on smoking a turkey.)
